MOVIES - Valdez is coming

Post by aussie »

This might be off topic, I'm not sure, but I watched this movie tonight on dvd. What a good western. Lots of levergun action. Not sure what models but definitely Winchester. I guess most of you guys would have seen this movie. Just wanted to recommend it to those that have not.

Good movie, and a great lesson on why ya don't mess with an old man. :) Valdez made good use of a Sharps and short double gun, too.

I guess I think of "Valdez is Coming" as more of a "Sharps" pic too, and it was, in fact, where I got my teenaged infatuation with Sharps rifles.

(I was cured of that within a decade.)

"Valdez" and "Joe Kidd" always struck me as having mined the same vein. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

"Valdez is coming" is good movie, another good Burt Lancaster movie is "Ulzana's Raid".
I prefer the westerns he made after he stopped dazzling the camera with those brilliant white teeth! they never looked quite period correct.

Great movie!

Valdez: I tink closer to 1,000...
