OT Baby Browning?

An elderly family friend was telling me about a little 25 auto that he has had for many years and was perhaps looking to sell. All he could tell me at the time was that it was a Browning. My question is, did Browning only make the one model with variations, the Baby Browning? I have not seen it yet, so I have no idea of the condition of the piece, but assuming average condition for a piece of this age what would be a fair price to offer?

I have always loved, but never owned, the baby Brownings and Colt vest pockets. Around here they are about $300 to $350 at gun shows for ones that are pretty well worn.

There are several "Baby Brownings" (Vest Pocket Model) in 6.35mm (.25ACP).

The older, more valuable being the FN-marked guns @ about $500.

The later BAC marked guns, w/slide lock & safety lever - $350.

There were also some nickled or alloy-framed Lightweights, worth $500.

And the engraved Renaissance Model, worth $900.

Those values presume an excellent-to-mint condition, to which $100 may be added for the original box/papers in like condition.

Bauer Firearms made an identical, parts-interchangeable clone in stainless steel, in the 1970's, now usually tagged @ $250-$350.

I always thought they were neat little pieces. But, with my chubby fat fingers I'm afraid I'd fumble with the dog gone thing and shoot myself.

Well, the metal bit on the top known as the slide, which contains the firing pin is under spring tension, and, when pulled to the rear on a firearm containing cartridges and released, strips a cartridge off of the top of a stack of cartridges held in the magazine, allowing said cartridge to be pushed into the chamber at the rear of the barrel. Pulling the trigger releases the striker from is position under spring tension allowing the firing pin to engage the primer in the base of the cartridge, igniting the powder and expelling the bullet from the cartridge case down the barrel and toward the intended Chav...

And THAT is how it shoots....

Yeah, those Baby Brownings are neat little poppers.

I had a Bauer copy a few years ago. The second time I found it with the safety worked off and pointing to a very cherished part of my anatomy , I quit carrying it, and I later traded it to Slowhand for another Iver Johnson TP-22. Both of us thought we had the better part of the trade.

I called the gentleman that has it today. I will see him at a wedding tomorrow and asked him to bring it along, so hopefully we will make a deal.

In reply to NATH's HOW DO THEY SHOOT? I have two. I bought them brand new way back when, gave one to my father and I kept one. I found if you can hold them tight enough and steady enough they will shoot very accurately. Was really suprised as they could group about three inches at 25 yards. My father pretty wore the bluing of of his as he carried it a lot in his pocket. Mine is still in pretty good shape finish wise as I didn't carry it that often. They may be small but they can shoot and are better than a rock or dull knife. Hope this answers you inquiry. As a side note I remember seeing film of the Danish Underground in WWII pulling off raids on plants to bedevil the German occupiers, all the underground were dressed in business suits and all were carrying little 25 ACP pocket pistols. I guess they wanted the concealability factor more. Was interesting times I guess.
