Went up monday morning at about 1 AM to take part in the annual Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge shotgun hunt .
You can take whitetails or Sika Deer on this hunt but I was after Sika's as I can kill way more whitetail then I need right here in Virginia !
But thats not to say if a nice buck had wondered by I wouldn't have busted his A.. !
Sorry to say I saw ne deer of either flaover but there were plenty shots in my fairly near vicinity ! So I assume some folks had some luck !

Here are two pics from the visitor's center of what I was after !
This is an average 6 point Sika Stag from Virginia or Maryland !

Here are two more pics from the visitors center of a fellow who needs no introduction !
My photography does these birds no justice as I have always thought the taxidermist that mounted them did an outstanding job !
Incidently over the years of hunting Sika Deer on Blackwater , CHincoteague and our leases in Dorchester County I saw many many Bald Eagles !

Above the SIka Stag in this picture is a nice mounted "Delmarva Fox Squirrel" . These guys are on the endangered list and are about the size of an average house cat !
Even though they're endangered there seems to be a nice population of them here on the Blackwater Refuge as well as the Chincoteague Refuge in Virginia !
