39AS Help!

Post by scott a »

Just bought a Marlin 39AS made in 1987. Would like to do away with the cross bolt safety. Ive seen replacements for the larger guns {1894 ect.} but no luck on the 39AS's. Also it appears the 39's safety is held in place with a tiny roll pin... is this correct? All help appreciated.Thank you, Scott

Scott, go over to Rimfirecentral and ask in the Marlin forum, might do a search first. Should be able to get pages of info on this subject.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the 39as have a rebounding hammer? My next question is does it still have a half cock position on the hammer? Finally is the hammer prevented from striking the firing pin by anything other than the crossbolt safety? The rimfires aren't metioned on this forum very often and a 39as almost never. My friend was eyeballing one of these the other day and had similar questions for which I did not have the answers.
