Get some swiss miss - mix it up using milk and add a generous amount of peppermint schnapps.
I personally witnessed many of my fraternity brothers come near to death from consuming too much of this...

Sounds like a good time for an experiment.

I am not much help, but have heard of what you are talking about using hersey bars, either half and half or condensed milk. I have had some good luck with some dutch cocoa powder hot chocolate but have never found the stuff again. You may want to check with some of the posters from England, they seem to appreciate hot chocolate over there. Maybe presweetened condensed milk, heated with chocolate bars slowly melted into the milk or half and half, constantly steering it. I remember one using dutch process cocoa powder, condensed milk, sugar, made a great cup of hot cocoa. Some guys in the service used to chocolate Ice Cream mix which came in rations as a base as well. Also look at the Food Channel which is on TV I think you might find some ideas. Seem to remember a program "Good Eats" with Alton Brown that appeared to be a killer hot chocolate drink. That taps me out. Good Luck in your search. IF you find one let us know.

JR, I guess the search feature don't like me either. I remember the recipe you are referring to, but no comb. of chocolate, cocoa, half and half, or what have you finds anything. Not wanting a new Gunny to be seen suffering distress in front of his Marines, maybe this will help stave off the d.t.'s: 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate; 1/2 cup water; 1/4 cup sugar; 1 and 1/2 cups half and half; 1/2 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 tsp. cornstarch; pinch of salt...melt chocolate in a double boiler. In a saucepan, boil the water and stir in the sugar, salt' and cornstarch until dissolved, then stir into the chocolate. Add the half and half and vanilla and stir thoroughly. Reheat mixture just to simmering then serve and enjoy. If you absolutely must use Hershey bars, I would suggest cutting back on the sugar to taste. Makes 2 cups and can be multiplied as needed. Good luck and happy Holidays to all!

Re: Help! search dont like me.
Every "Death by Chocolate" hot drink I have found involves alcohol. I suspect that somebody just picked up an old traditional Hot Chocolate recipe and then hung that moniker on it, because of the popular alcohol drinks, cakes, mousses and so on. Below are:
1) Traditional Death by Chocolate alcohol drink
0.5 oz. Creme de Cacao (White)
1 oz. Chocolate Syrup
4 oz. Ice Cream
2 oz. Milk
1 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream®
1 oz. Kahlua®
2) French Hot Chocolate recipe based on one from the 1690's. Other recipes substitute Hershey bars for the plain chocolate and sugar; some add a little sugar as well.
Ingredients
50g plain chocolate, finely chopped
30g caster sugar, to taste
2 large pinches of cinnamon
½ vanilla pod, split lengthways
Put 300 ml of water into a heavy bottomed saucepan, bring to the boil, then remove from the heat, then add the chocolate, sugar and cinnamon. Using the tip of a knife, scrape the seeds from the vanilla pod and add into the saucepan mixture.
Using a balloon whisk, whisk the mixture thoroughly; when a good amount of froth has been created, pour the mixture into the warmed mugs, spooning the froth on top!
3) Hot Chocolate with half-and-half; I guess you could dump in a Hershey bar instead of chocolate chips!
(You can add Godiva liqueur if you wish)
Ingredients
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
4 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
Vanilla whipped topping, for garnish
Candy cane, crushed or whole, for garnish
Peppermint liqueur, optional
White chocolate liqueur, optional
Directions
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir continuously until white chocolate chips have completely melted. Stir in the half-and-half, vanilla extract and peppermint extract. Stir occasionally until heated through.
Pour into mugs and top with a dollop of vanilla whipped topping and a candy cane.
"For a tasty adult drink, add desired amounts of peppermint and white chocolate liqueurs."
4) "Perfectly Chocolate" Hot Cocoa recipe
Microwave Single Serving:
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. Hershey's Cocoa
Dash salt
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1. Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in a large mug.
2. Heat milk in microwave at High (100%) 1 1/2 minutes or until hot.
3. Gradually add milk to cocoa mixture; stir well. Stir in vanilla.
OK - gotta go and bust some doves with brother-in-law and friend.

Re: Help! search dont like me.
You're welcome! Back from dove hunting - there were lots of 'em just as the sun set - but they swarmed from another field nearby! The good thing is that I have two of the little chirpers, and 4 ears of corn; it was a plowed up cornfield. Well, actually I left the corn there, since it wasn't in very good shape. But it was nice to get out, enjoy the nice day, and fire at least a few rounds from my 12 ga. Remington 870!
