I have a problem with my Marlin 308MX. I loaned it to my brother and now he has killed two deer with it and doesn't want to give it back! He has hunted the last several years with a bolt gun in 270 and wanted to use something different. I loaned him the Marlin and it is now ALL that he hunts with. The problem is now how do I disciple the new convert? I hope that I have not given him a case of marin-itis....I know it's catching. Is ther any hope for my brother now?

Re: 308 MX problem
Goat,
Easy solution--Now that you have him where you want him, just tell the dude to give you a nice SA Colt and he can have the Marlin
One thing for certain---leverguns are a catchy thing------------------Sixgun

There is a cure for marlin-itis, let him try a winchester
Now the hard part he now has lever-itis and he is done for. Good luck in getting your rifle back.

Re: 308 MX problem
A man can make friends with some dude off the street, and in good time he becomes very close, always honorable in his dealings with you, and you would do anything for him, and ditto likewise coming back from him. But when a brother goes bad, there's no redemption. You have probably lost your brother if you insist on getting the MX rifle back, his mind is most likely made up, the rifle is more to him than you being his brother. Course, you could go get another MX gun, buy a case of ammo and split that with him, and kiss and make up. Sounds like he knows where the deer hang out!!
Good luck
