OT - do I want my daughter doing this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkRI8I5m ... ture=email
It seems she is beginning a new hobby and since we seem to share many aspects of our lives here.... She went through college on a diving scholarship and was most accomplished at the 10 meter platform. Must admit I was relieved when that was over even though she was good enough to win a couple of conference championships.
So I emailed her today - Tracy do I really want you doing this???

She's got more nerve than I do to be an aerialist. It can be fairly safe but "safe" is a relative thing! (no pun intended even if it is a good 'un) Many of us spent many years in the military and although it was dangerous at times, I bet none of us gave it up for that. Ditto the cops and firefighters. You know, you get out on those freeways out there, I think THAT's dangerous!
Sincerely,
Hobie

Old Savage, I watched the video and she obviously had a competant coach, which really helps. My Russian Grandfather was a trapeze artist, but they did not have safety nets back then. I think Tracy will be OK. She is a remarkably coordinated young lady based upon my experiences!

And you were quite the dance student!

Looks like fun! Me, I don't have a gymnastic bone in my body...don't like being upside down, spinning, flipping, etc. But, since she's gifted that way, why not go for it! Just recently I took the family to the Big Apple circus and was watching the trapeze act thinking how cool it would be to be up there flinging myself around on those little bars. Good for her!

Old Savage, where's your sense of adventure?
Then again, I tried to do something about my fear of heights, many years ago as an ROTC cadet, by going to Basic Airborne School after my OBC (Signal). I figured that, since a drop-dead beautiful blonde friend of mine was in my stick (squad--I know what you guys are thinking!), if she could do it, I sure as all Hell could. Thing is, she was telling herself the very same thing. We both got through BAS . . . and no, I never did "get busy" with her.
I'm still scared to a lack of fecal matter of heights. Come to think of it, the fear intensified during jump school. Had a lot to do with a mistake I made, darn near leaving my hand in the plane on the second jump.

Old Savage,
well, there ya go ..... don't ride to the range, walk and work up to jogging .... you'll be ready for that class sooner than you think.
Cheers,
Carl

25 miles to the range there New Pig - up and down hill - a lot - warped my rotors - come on up to Lancaster some time and we'll take the 375s out there.
AND, it's 25 miles back
