I took my new to me 1969 Marlin 336 Texan 30-30 for it's first outing today. I had two loads to try out, Speer 150 gr. FP - 31 gr of IMR3031 - Fed 210M and Speer 170 gr. FP - 30 gr of IMR3031 - Fed 210M. The old Marlin has a preference for the 150 gr. load. This rifle is quite accurate, my eyes are good at 50 yds, 100 yds really works them so I tried red paper plates at 100 yds and they helped a lot.
50 yds.
100 yds.
Browning 1895 .30-06 Tried two milder loads with Hornandy 180 gr. BTSP - 53 gr of H4831 in military brass and the same 180 gr BTSP - 55 gr of H4831 in Federal Brass - Fed 210M.
Shot some great groups at 50 yds. 100 yds were all right. I need to lose the stock sights on this rifle.

100 yds.
I am really pleased with the Texan and am happy with the 1895, more work is needed on the re-loads and a peep sight is definitely going on this rifle.

I went to the Dollar store and they did not have any red paper plates, I was thinking cheap too
Then went to Target and they had them in the party section for a few bucks a pack. They really stand out and are easy to see at 100 yds.
