OT - Crosman 130

Post by Hobie »

Anyone else (other than Paul) have a Crosman 130? I've been thinking of getting a 1377, maybe the buttstock.
Sincerely,

Hobie

I have an unmodified 1377. it is my "car gun" and I use it to kill pigeons... when I get the shot.

The 1377 was the second air gun I ever had. I have been thinking of buying another one for indoor and out the back porch shooting. There is a bunch of custom stuff available for them now, might be fun.

I've had the 1377 since the early eighties. I have the stock too. I like it a little better in the carbine configuration. Crappy trigger. Challenging to shoot as a pistol. Still manages good accuracy and is good starling medicine.

It beats not shooting at all but now when I shoot my air gun it's a Beeman p3. They have p17 model that looks just like it for less than $50. Single pump, 400 fps. Great trigger.

Like Whit, I have the 1377. Mine's from the 70s and I did send away for the stock. I still have it. Second the crappy trigger but if you get where you shoot good groups with it you can shoot anything. Good shooter if you can get to where you can get over the trigger. I even still have the boxes for both the trigger and stock.

I have come to the conclusion that the Crosman 130 is why triggers are not an issue for me! 20K+ through mine, I guess I can adapt to anything. I shot some good 10M groups with that gun, too!

Hobie, I've got a Crosman 2250, which is about as much fun as a person can have with a CO2 cartridge. These things and it's variants have quite a cult following with tons of aftermarket parts, accessories, and customizing being done. Many of the current Crosmans are kind of a modular design (whether pump or CO2) so many parts interchange.

Hobie,

I have an old co2 crosman in pieces in my shop - i think its a 116?

I love airguns. Crosman, benjamin, and sheridan pneumatics are my favorites.

I have a 1377 that I got in 1985. I've converted it to .22 cal w/18" barrel and then tuned with a flat top piston. it shoots 650fps with a 14.3 grain pellet. Very sweet little carbine. I have 6 sheridan and benjamin/sheridan rifles with mfg. dates from 1965 - 2006. One sheridan has been steroid tuned and gets over 800fps with a .20 cal cylindrical. Very accurate with the williams peep. The vast majority of squirrels I've gotten in my life have been with airguns.

also have a crosman 38T that my wife used to practice shooting a revolver before she got a 'real' one.

I have a 130 that is in need of an overhaul. I have most of the parts, now if I can just find the time and a little more nerve.

Hobie,

I don't have the Crossman but I do have a Sheridan pistol that's a blast. No plastic either. even the grips are wood, at least on mine. Not sure of the model number but mine is in .22 to match the rifle.

My 1377 works great for those killer goffers. Been known to down a few rabbits and ground squirrels also. :)

I would have loved to use one on the ground squirrels at Roberts and Hunter-Liggett but things being what they were...

I got a "parts kit" from ebay. I don't remember off hand who it was from, but I can probably look it up.

Thank you! I hated it when they came running through our hovels. I did manage to tomahawk one. There was even a comic about them. It alleged that the ground squirrels were led by a capybara who they made look like a Che Guevera wannabe.

To get one rebuilt I'd contact Mac 1 Airguns. He works on everything. He can most likely put a supertune on it for you as well.

Though the 130 wasn't listed in the repair list, I may give them a call.

Thanks!

Back in '83 I picke dup a model 1377 through the hardware store I was working at cost plus 10%. I usedd it to shoot the numerous Ringneck Doves in my yard, as well a s dispatching rats in my Mango tree. The dove breasts were a welcome addition to our simple simple diet. Later on (1996) Maui my eldest son then age 12 inherited it, and he was quite the dead-eye shooting bottle caps, doves, and francolins with deadly accuracy. I'm not sure what ever became of that little pistol but I got my $32.99 money's worth out of it for sure. :D

I wish there was a way to rustproof it that didn't cost more than a truckload of them. Might be worth "tuning" them.

My biggest beef with it is the 10-pump loading cycle makes it impossible to get into play quickly, and leaving it pumped up shreds the seals.

I'm seriously thinking about a 700fps spring action RWS... http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/Pest_Contr ... _s/267.htm

Looks cooler too...
