Good morning,
Brand new to this site but not really to lever guns as I am an active member of SASS. Out of impulse I bought a 1895CB Marlin(98201***) in 45-70 Govt. with 26" oct barrel for an additional Long-range gun. Being a purportedly NIB gun we cleaned the bore and sent a round down range at the 200 yard target I wear out with my 38-55 single shot. Not having a good drift with me we stopped after next round as we were 8 feet to the left. But with the elevator all the way up there is probably not enough elevation. I plan on shooting a medium load of Accurate 5774 under a card and 405g cast flat nose to start There is no range I know of in GA. that is over 600 yards and all of my shooting will be at 200 -300 yards but I would like this to be a field gun as well. Keeping in mind that reciever sites are illegal in SASS can someone with experience in this area provide some guidance as to replacement site options. I'm thinking Smith ladder with a hooded front like my single shot. All opinions are taken seriously and I thank you in advance for any help. TEX

Welcome....
I would look at the Lyman or Marbles tang sight. I have the Lyman on a few rifles and enjoy using them. The advantage the Marbles has is that they are adjustable for both windage and elevation, whereas the Lyman is only adjustable for elevation.
If you think you want or need a hooded front sight - look no further than the Lyman 17a - very reasonable in price and very well made.
