94 Winchester Ranger hammer conversion

Post by moose30273 »

Howdy
Just this morning I got a Winchester 94 Ranger. Bought it blind from a co-worker who did not know what he had. Anyway, it is all 94 except the rebounding hammer. I think I have read that this can be converted to the old half-cock style by "simply" swapping parts. I sorta like the rebounding hammer idea. However, as I have been shooting 94's since the 70's with the half cock hammer, it is just different. Also this rifle does not have the crossbolt safety. Any help or ideas? Thanks

Hi Moose, welcome to the fire!
Yes it can be converted just by swapping parts, the problem is rounding up the parts.

Here is the link to Numrich with the parts you need.

http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp? ... 0RIFLE&MC=

Hammer #301730 $42.65
Hammer Spring #301920 $2.85 - OUT
Hammer Spring Guide #301750 $4.55 - OUT
Trigger #302050 $19.00
Sear #302060 $9.25 – OUT

They have been out of the hammer spring, guide and sear for a wile now.
I ended buying a complete lower tang from Malamute awile back.
If you can find one it is usually cheaper than buying the parts separately.
Good luck.
