Winchester M.64 .219 Zipper Lever Rifle
Price: US $2795.00

Too bad - I don't own a money tree

"An improved version of the model 55 with a larger magazine, pistol grip stock and forged front sight ramp. The 219 zipper caliber was introduced in 1938 and discontinued in 1941. The barrel sight has been removed and the dovetail filled with a blank. A Winchester No. 98A bolt peep sight has been installed. This is the 26" barrel version with the hooded front sight. 85% blue remains with most loss where forend meets the frame. The walnut stock retain over 95% original varnish with one deep bruise on the left over the lever along with several lesser ones. A nice example of a scarce caliber in production for only 4 years"

A fellow can always daydream though....

You surprised me!

I was expecting something more along the lines of this:

I like 'em both! That Krupp gun would be just the ticket for some of Mom's rowdy neighbors. Don't have to aim it at 'em, just set it off at 1:00 AM...

The local National Guard has the perfect little gizmo for actions like that!

At every home football game, they bring out an old 75mm Pack Howitzer and at every toudhdown, they fire off a blank. One of them told me they have some machined brass shells loaded witn 10 gauge blanks.

It makes a heckuva noise!

That's what they use on most posts to signal Retreat. At the sound of the gun, everything comes to a stop, people get out of their cars, stop walking etc, and face the flag (or music) and render honors (salute) while retreat is played. Then, life goes on. While it might have been an irritant to some, I think it was one of the neatest things to living on a post. Don't know if they still do it what with this PC world. I hope so.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Hard to guess what the guy would ask for a Winnie like that one. I'm sure you would gulp hard when handed the bill.

Yeah, but you'd be the only kid on your block with a Krupp...

I'll take one of these as well:

That is a neat pair of poppers!

But I'd really rather have a Krupp, or a 12-pdr Gun-Howitzer. Those iron 3" guns had a disturbing tendency to explode.

Andym,
I have a 64 Winchester in 219 Zipper. I use to shoot praire dogs with a bolt action in this chambering and it worked great. Results were very similar to using a 223. I haven't gotten around to playing much with loads for it but it is high on the list when things start to warm up here again. BTW, I know what you mean by price, the only way I could afford one was to find one that had been refinished with a much smaller price tag then the one in your picture.
