The next morning I misjudged the range and sent a round under the neck of a big, fat doe who didn't stick around to see why it was thundering even though there was not a cloud in the sky. That night I didn't get a shot.
The next morning after getting the truck stuck and becoming a pedestrian I walked around until a doe popped up in some thick stuff about 10 yards away. When I shot she took off obviously unhurt. I could not believe I missed at near knife range. I thought "I am going to get on that deer's trail" and started easing her way. Then I saw my deer on the ground and realized the deer that ran was another deer I didn't see before I shot. She made my goal of two deer for the weekend.
Yesterday night I saw a monster buck and could have bagged a doe at about 35 yards but just didn't shoot her. She saw me finally after I had sat there probably 20 minutes and came over to see what I was from an original range of about 125 yards. Not the worlds smartest deer. I put my buddy onto the buck. We are trying to get his son his first big deer.
So everything went great. I feel refreshed and have three deer so far counting the one I got during muzzleloader. I am going back next weekend and bet I can get two more since I let two walk already.

Here is my gun on the left and my buddy's 35 Remington on the right. These guns have accounted for way over 100 deer over the years including many trophy bucks, plus hogs coyotes, and bobcats. My buddy's gun is pretty battered and the bore is rough and pitted, but it will still shoot.
Here is a bear. It wasn't that big but there are big ones there. I carry a Super Blackhawk when I am squirrel hunting for peace of mind. No bear has ever bothered anyone to my knowledge though.
Here is my buddy with a big boar. Advice to hogs: Do not come within 200 yards of a man with a Marlin 336.
Couple of nice tenderloins and my Grandmother's butcher knife. Buy those at the store city boys!
