OT-Gustav Young 1849 Colt

Post by Sixgun »

Guys,
How about this one that came out of the woodwork. Its a presentation 1849 Colt that was one of 200 guns comissioned by Sam Colt himself in 1854 to be engraved by the famous Colt engraver, Gustav Young. Came from an estate here in Pa.

Snagged by my buddy Tom, at Targetmaster. Nice piece of history. The gun's engraving is still very sharp and the gun has had very little use, but most of the blue and case hardening has faded. The wood case is still in excellent condition.----------If this was mine, it would be turned into a couple of deluxe 1886's! :D ---------Sixgun

No bet. That's just a sucker bet. He'd probably compete with it.

Nah, competition requires a .32 caliber minimum, and at .31 the 1849's don't qualify. But... load & shoot... for a day of plinkin', hmmm - maybe!

Almost gotta say... how could you NOT!

And Ben,
I'd have to do a lot of cleanin' on that TR Colt... BEFORE I shot it!
