.308 win levergun
308 Win is one of my favorite cartridges. Would love to have a levergun in same.
30-30 marlins are relatively plentiful and inexpensive in my area...
practical to rechamber to 308?
Thanks

I'm sure Hobie will expond on this.
Seems that idea won't work.... Has any tried the "new" higher performance pointed rounds? Friend told me that it had breathed new life in the good ole 30 WCF ( Not that there is anything Wrong with it) but he did not recommend it for the levergun.

Think Browning BLR for a strong modern levergun designed to handle .308 pressures. http://www.browning.com/products/catalo ... ype_id=006

JohnnyReb,
No need to rechamber a 30-30 Marlin, just check this out:

Marlin's already got you covered.

Miller is correct. During our Safari in South Africa in June one of the members, Al DiPrima, used a Marlin in the new .308 Marlin to take some of the game.
It worked quite well. On the DVD of the Safari he makes a heck of a shot between some trees to take a really nice Impala.

If you are staying with the 30-30 then try 130 speer fp and some H335 or re-7. Should be able to get around 2600 fps at around 39000psi. Lee has a listing for 125gr with 38gr of h-335 at 2643fps. These are the listed rounds some of us have gone past that.
