OT---worth of 35 Win 1895 win.
Had a Browning redone to 38-72, so thinking about getting rid of my 35 Win. (1912) 1895 Winny. Excellent blue and a nice plum on the barrel. suspect a reblue job at some time as its too nice. Excellent bore (1.5" @ 100yds) and good wood. Been looking at Gunbroker to see what it is worth, but haven't seen anything similar lately. Thought about taking it to Tulsa, but thought I would check here first, as I suspect there are those here with alot more smarts, than down there. Any idea on its worth. Standard sights also. Thanks

Your pics are OK as I was able to see the important things. It has been reblued but very tastefully as I saw no evidence of buffing. The color of the bluing is not what they originally were, but is close. The wood was sanded but not real bad. You will notice on the second pic down that the wood is not "proud" where the wood meets the receiver, not the tang area. "Proud" means the wood is actually a tiny bit higher than the metal. This is how the old Winchesters left the factory. The wood has also been stained a bit dark as most refinishers did this to hide small blemishes. Overall, its a decent looking gun with smooth metal and solid wood. If the bore is nice (as you said earlier) and the gun has excellent mechanics, with a tight excessive headspace free chamber, I would value it at around $1000-$1200. At least thats what it would bring here in Pa. It might bring more or less depending on what state you live in. Usually the "richer" states do better as do states where big game is hunted. The 35 Winchester is a nice caliber but for some strange reason, it is the least desired. I love it as I have a takedown with a shotgun butt thats a tackdriver. If your gun was in 405, it probably would bring 2g's, maybe more. A 30-40 or '06 might bring a tad more than the 35.

Originals, unrestored, refinished, and un-messed with, are pushing $2000.00 +. Nice ones with lots of finish are up over $2500.00. These have been asking prices, some are still unsold. My very first high powered rifle was a M.95 in 35WCF. I rebarrelled it to 30-40 Krag. It was a 95% gun. Dumb, dumb!
