Ok, I'm sure many of you know this already, but in case there's someone like me out there:
Often when hunting with my 336 I'm not sure if I have one in the chamber. You don't want to guess, and click on an empty chamber if you see game, and you also don't want to think the chamber's empty when it isn't.
Sometimes I have emptied my gun to make sure of my chamber situation, and then reloaded. What a pain. I have also worked the lever before shooting, thinking the chamber was empty, only to eject a live round, leaving me one less to shoot.
Well, today, I looked at my 336 round bolt, and I realized I could plainly see a tiny sliver of the brass in the loaded chamber. AHA! No more guessing. If I want to check my chamber all I have to do is look.
Noticed something today about my 336

Yup...I do the same thing. Nice of Marlin to build in that "loaded chamber indicator", ain't it?
Some people just need a sympathetic pat on the head.....with a hammer. Repeatedly.
