OT - JMiller/Plane Buffs: 2001 Fresno CA Doolittle Fly-In

Post by don Tomás »

Joe - Promised you last year that I would get you a DVD of the Doolittle Fly-In/Reunion held in Fresno May 12, 2001. Finally found a way of getting the analog Hi8 tape into the computer (problem because I only work with DV now). Anyway, PM me a mailing address and I'll get it out to you. Here's some captured stills that look like cr@p but will give you an idea. The actual video (unedited, warts and all) is much better. I remember 14 ships making it to this reunion, which they figured to be the last. This was the largest gathering of B-25's (air worthy) since WWII, other than for the filming of the movie "Catch 22" (1970)...

I've seen some B-25's before, but never that many at one time. Bet that was a sight to see, and hear. I love the sound of those big radial engines.

Yes, you could feel those Wright "Cyclone" 14 cylinder air cooled radials with their coffee can sized cylinders thumping way down in your guts. Here's a couple of stills we took that day...

don Tomás,

I received an email indicating you sent me a PM, but for some reason I can't access my PM's or my user control panel here in the forum.

Note to self:

Gotta go to an airshow sometime!

Just for the kids, you know - not really that exciting to me or anything - but for the kids...

(Best thing about having kids is excuses to do fun stuff your wife might say is silly. 8) )

Is there a list of airshows on the net that tells what kinds of things would be there?

Man is that cool!!

About 15 years ago a B-17 came to a local airshow. just happend to be near by when she came in. I pulled off the road and watched her come in. I'll never forget that.
