Mrs Bullwinkle on the prod
Went elk hunting this morning took the nephew, hunting some dark timber and penny pine regrowth (old clearcuts) saw some WT bucks & does and a madcow enjoyed the hunt. danny
Tied up the ponys and took a nap while the nephew hunted some dark timber
Ran into a cow with 2 calves boy was she on the prod, she came at me I faced up on here and back my horse away I thought I was going to have to fire a warning shot
Got back 50 yds or so had a dip of copenhagen and waited the old sow wouldnt leave and I had to go that way to finish my loop she finally moved wished I'd of had my cow dogs she'd of moved

In my thirty plus years in AK the only critter I have had to kill in self defense was a moose.
When those ears go back, watch out!
Definately right up there with da bears on my "be carefull" list!

Coldfingers, this wasnt my first dance with swamp donkeys and your right moose are as bad as bears cept afterward they dont eat you. The last cow I danced with I had to put a round in the ground to get her attention. I usually have one or two goarounds per year with swamp donkeys. danny
PS: Coldfingers your right about cows and laying back their ears and when bulls rock their heads from side to side and their eyes are rolling around you have been invited to dance.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. The horse's ears make a prime sighting "V"for taking pictures. Kinda like a set of buckhorn sights.
Nice country.

Danny...
It did the job. Was not very pretty and was a whole lot of work (dancin and shooting aint for wimps)
Seems I pierced everything but the ears.
