Last I checked the Winchester 22mag was about 1400fps and CCI Maxi was 1540fps out of a 5 1/2" Ruger Single Six
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

I was always told that a 22mag out of a handgun was about equal too a 22 LR out of a rifle.

So it would be interesting if this saying from my childhood is true...

Andy - that would appear to be true from a 2" barrel according to the reference that Ravenman gave. Wonder what 4.5" more of barrel contributes. Guess I will have to chrony it.

I chronied the above loads a few months back, and they seem to fall in line with what is listed here. He used a 4" and a 6.5" for the results.

In my 5.5" Single Six I get 1280 fps with Maxi Mags and 1387 from Federal 40g FMJ ammo.
