Interesting poll results at Mossberg

Post by bcp »

Which of 8 proposed calibers do you want to see next in the 464 lever action?

First place is 41 Mag with 28%. This is a surprise. Marlin made it in the 1894 but it seems to have disappeared. Must not have been popular.

2nd = 444 Marlin 19%

3rd = 357 Mag 13%

They didn't offer .32-40, otherwise I'd have been the sole vote there... none of the others interest me; or I already have a lever in that caliber! :twisted:

I voted .410. I missed the Winchester and Marlin lever .410's. Stupid me thought they would be around for a long time. So, if anyone makes one, I'll be first in line at my local shop.

I voted .410/.444. THe only real difference is that a .410 barrel needs a button run through it to make it a .444 (.429)...

2 guns, one tooling set, decreased costs, increased revenue.

But then, I think in MM (Manufacture/Marketing) terms...

the original marlin 410 made back in the 1920's is much, much nicer; it has the old square bolt for a neater look, operates slicker, and has a true shotgun weight barrel that gives it much better balance. probably can rfind one for about the same money; i have 2, one for me and one for my son

here is one at auction:

scroll down to item #14 or look here:

http://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDetail.a ... id=3924343

registration is easy and they are extremely reputable; i have bought a number of rare guns this way
and if the new ones is your style, marlin is making it again and this time in stainless steel; here is one on gunbroker, and there's lots more:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =113570975

the old original is much more lively handling, lighter weight and a better investment for sure.

I really find it hard to believe the 41 Mag would be on top. Nothing against the cartridge, but there just aren't that many people shooting it these days. Wonder if some 41 nut is sitting at his computer for a couple hours every day repeatedly voting for the 41. :lol:

I voted for 25-35, the original poll was different; one could write in canditates.
