We were pricing shotguns, the wife wanted to move up to a 12 ga. We had her 20 as trading stock. We left the show and went to Leader then Cabellas. We didn't find anything she liked for less than $700 difference. We picked up a couple boxes of 20ga shells at Cabellas, and I picked up a FCD for 223, and new Lee case trimmer cutter. Went back to the show to look there again. We left with a Charles Daly auto NIB with beautiful wood for $350. Stopped at Buffalo County Buffalo and we tried it out. Shoots good, she likes it and we've now got lots of redundant 20ga shells

Yearly report on Mitchell, SD gunshow
Went to the Gun Show in Mitchell, SD yesterday(it's today too). I bought some trinkets for my EBR, and a magazine for my Firestorm 45(I was stunned to see that and at a price $20 less than I'd seen anywhere else, didn't take long for the checkbook to come out there). There was a pretty good selection of leverguns of all ages but no great prices, IMO. Right in the door was a Oct 92 rifle in 25-20 that grabbed my attention, it had a replaced mag tube, sights, and "maybe" the stock. The bore light showed the bore was pretty rough and he wanted $795. Thought at first glance there was a nice Marlin 36 at a table, closer examination(ok you didn't have to be that close) showed it to be reblued, polished so much the barrel markings weren't readable. There was some nice stuff there but the prices were so high I didn't look at much else closely. Lots of black rifles, some not bad pricing on them and accessories. The wife bought a new pair of binoculars and she found a block & tackle deer hanging tree for $10. The best price on a levergun in Mitchell was in Cabellas, in a used rack was a flatband 1894 in 32 special. Looked to be an unmolested 95+% for $599. It was away from the other 94s. It was very tempting but I didn't bite. It wasn't in the gun cave(no bargains there). There were quite a few AE Winchesters in the used racks though with some reasonable prices.

"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."
