trade

Post by mescalero1 »

The guy across the street has a Enfield #5 carbine.
Has a nice Monte Carlo buttstock , matching forend, metal in good shape good bore, in short nice gun.
It is missing the rear sight, I don't know if Springfield Sporters is around anymore, but how hard will it be to find the original sight?
He wants to trade for my Star BM

Well, it isn't original but the original rear sight shouldn't be too hard to get, they were the same as on the #4s. Since it isn't an original and you'd have to replace the sight and stock to make it so, I'm thinking it is a wash in the trade value BUT I'd do it. I love the Enfields and can take or leave the Star BMs (which are pretty good pistols).
Sincerely,

Hobie

Howdy Mescalero!

You can get either rear sight at Numerich gun parts, along with the pins. I have a Mk.4 No.1 flip-up rear sight off of my No.4 if you want it. I replaced mine with a Mk.1 Singer adjustible from Gun Parts Corp. You'll have to get the pins yourself.

Just email me if you want it.

I think I have a spare too.

The pins can be made from a plain old paper clip. Exactly the right size. Did that on my Savage N0 4 years ago.

Mescalero...sent the sight via the post. You should get it early next week. Hope you got the rifle.

By the way, Numerich also has the parts for your No.5 if you want to convert the rifle back to an original configuration. Stocks, muzzle comp. etc.

Please report back pard...most of us here are big fans of the Enfields.

Best to you pard...

There is an article by Gary James in the current Guns and Ammo Magazine about the sniper version of the Enfield. He says the .308 version of the Enfield is one of the best sniper rifles in the world. I think I'd have to differ. They're OK but not that great IMHO.

This is going to be my go feed the outside wood furnace every night rifle.
The new house will have radiant in floor heating, I figure to have to go out about 9:00 in the evening for the nights load of wood, to make it through the night.
The maker says it's a 12 hour burn time, but makers of products say a lot of things.
It will serve other purposes as well.
