I never thought much of the sights that came on my Henry .22. I had a small scope on it for a while but really wanted to go back to irons. I thought about replacing the front barrel band/sight with the metal replacement, but being a cheapskate I thought of an alternative. I cut off the plastic post front sight and then cut a dovetail in the sight base to install a bead sight I already had. That turned out pretty good so I went ahead and drilled & tapped the receiver for an extra Williams sight that I had on hand.
Should be lots better than the course plastic sights it had.

Pete,
I see you have a blank in the rear sight dovetail. Did you find one the right size, or just make one out of the original rear sight? The dovetail in mine is much wider than the standard 3/8", it measures about .495".
Ted I'm glad to see somebody did what I was thinking with the front sight. I have the aluminum Henry front sight/barrel band that I was going use . But I want to put a peep on top of the receiver like Pete's. Thanks for the report.
