OT: got some new batteries for my D-60-almost got in trouble

Post by J Miller »

Some months ago the batteries for my Canon D-60 D-SLR quit taking a charge. They just died. They showed a full charge, but about 4 pics later they showed dead.
So I checked with Canon's web store and about fell off the chair. These are specialty batteries and from Canon cost $70.00 each plus shipping. I needed two. $140.00 bucks for batteries - I think not.

Oh well, back to my film cameras.

Today I made it to a local battery store. You want a battery, they got it. I never seen so many batteries.

$29.95 each + tx, two of them came out to less than one factory Canon. They fit my camera and my Canon battery charger. And for what's it worth you can't tell the difference between the Canon and the replacement batteries.

So I'm back in business. Gots to take some digital images now.

How I almost got in trouble: We were standing there talking to the counter lady and a Sangamon County Sheriff Deputy came in. He was in civies but wearing a nylon web gun belt with his badge and gun on it. Some model of little bitty Glock. As he walked past me I had the strongest urge to say: Hey, my guns bigger than yours. But thankfully the smart side of my brain clamped my mouth shut before I could say it. I'd probably still be in hand cuffs had the goofy side of my brain won out.

Even a fish wouldn't get in trouble/caught, if it simply kept it's mouth shut. 8)

You should have a gun bigger than the police, if you live in a free and stable and safe country!

And even more so in Joe's case - 'cause he lives in Illanoise.... (ie -NOT free nor safe)
Paul - in Pereira

How I almost got in trouble:
I was at a friends house the other day doing some electrical work when a LEO stopped by to make a report since the house had been broken into the day before and a BOSE stereo system was stolen. "You know why we have problems with gangs and thieves" I asked the LEO. "Why" he said. "Cause there isn't a bounty on them yet" I replied.

You're right about the bounty. But that comment isn't as bad as insulting the size of his ... equipment.
