38-55 range report

Post by RIHMFIRE »

Went to our hunt club this past weekend....loaded up the feeders and
helped my buddy site in his muzzleloader...he shot 3" groups at 50
using a CVA optima 50 cal with 240 gr 44 cal sabots with 100 gr of pyrodex...
He's a pretty tough character....he has stage 4 cancer....
After he was done shooting it was my turn.
Pulled out the model 94 38-55 legacy with 26" round barrel..
Bore slugged out a .379 dia, so i bought some 245 gr .380 dia.
Starline brass, winchester primers....and 3031 all at 50 yards
first 5 loads were 28 gr of 3031....and they were all over the place...
2nd 5 loads were 29 gr of 3031
Image
3rd group of 5 were 30 gr of 3031 pretty happy with this group...

Beautiful rifle. That 30 grain load looks pretty good.
