OT - Remington model 12 question
Nath's squirrel post got me and the wife talking and we went out shoot a bit this afternoon. She was shooting my Remington model 12 and didn't much care for the rear site. So I'm trying to use that as the excuse for my next gun related purchase.
I know there is a tang mounted peep site for the model 12, but I'm not sure who makes it. I thought Lyman, but couldn't find it (or the corresponding number) so I'm hoping for someone to point me in the right direction.

I have only seen a tang sight for the Rem.mod 12 in magazine pictures. I bet they are rare as hens teeth. May find one through some Rem. collector club on line.
Expect to pay dearly for it though.

Here's a Model 12 with a tang mounted peep for sale, not to expensive.
It might be cheaper to buy this, take the peep off and resell the rifle.

I wonder, what with all the photos, why couldn't he get the sight into the correct position?deerwhacker444 wrote:Here's a Model 12 with a tang mounted peep for sale, not to expensive.

What you need is a tang sight stamped "R12" or a Redfield receiver peep that you will have to d&t to use. You can find them on Ebay regulary.
This is a Redfield on my Rem 121.
