In another message he mentioned cutting the tips off 22 rimfire bullets using this tool. Anyone know anything about this?
I use the Hanned SGB die to clip the noses off to make flat points, which are more effective.
Ke4sky's Hanned SGB die for flat tipping 22RF ?

Which post? I couldn't find it.
The Hanned Line tool is excellent and the hardened steel holds up well to use. You can make such a tool from just about anything, even wood, that will last for a few rounds. That is the cut method. Paco uses the reform method with his Acu'rzr.
I didn't understand your post. You say
I use both the Hanned tool for some .22LRs and Paco's tool for my Single-Six. This is because Paco's tool swages the bullet to a slightly larger and consistent diameter giving me a bit more accuracy in the Single-Six whereas I don't need to do that for most of my other .22s.

So, are you using a Hanned Line Tool, too? No different than what Ed is using. What exactly was the question?I use the Hanned SGB die to clip the noses off to make flat points, which are more effective.

Sorry I wasnt more clear in my post. this statement below was made by Ke4sky in a post about favorite 22's I think.

Well, let me clarify further. I have been clipping the noses off of Stinger bullet to reduce to maybe 20 grains with a flat poing in the hopes that they will not penetrate racoons and possums. I crudely go round and round with wire cutters till the tip snips off and then I dress the remaining tip on a bench grinder to make perfectly flat.
I've just acquired a chronometer and I will see if the 20 gr bullet has a higher or lower velocity than the original 30 grainers.

So you are NOT using a Hanned Line tool. Ok, so now I understand.preventec47 wrote:Well, let me clarify further. The Hanned Line tool is a hardened tool steel cylinder of a length just slightly less than the COL of a .22 LR round. In the center is a hole of the diameter of a .22 LR round. It is counterbored to accept the cartridge rim. One inserts the cartridge in the hole so that the bullet tip is exposed at the other end and, with the cartridge case base end down on a flat surface, uses a file to remove the bullet nose/tip giving a flat meplat to the bullet. This is similar to the CCI SGB load with the major difference that the transition from the meplat to the ogive is sharp rather than rounded as on the CCI SGB swaged bullet. IME, it is more effective than the CCI SGB load.
The Hanned Line Tool is no longer produced. BELJAN made a similar tool with a modification that permitted making two different meplat sizes.

First is BELJAN's advertising photo and second is my photo of MY BELJAN tool for the .22 Short (and .22 short CB) and cartridges showing the different meplat sizes.
BELJAN no longer makes their tool either.
PS I believe that JimT's dad invented the Hanned SGB tool...
