Well, not exactly - they have a voter verification process in place that checks people as they vote - what this addresses is the checking of registrations - or so I gather.
Regardless, I see it as a loss for conservatives.
Acorn has been instigating voter fraud for years and getting away with it.
I am getting closer and closer to Thomas Jefferson's opinion of the tree of liberty.

No Picture ID required. All that is required as "ID" to vote in Ohio is "A copy of a current utility bill (including cell phone bill), bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address (including from a public college or university). Couple that "requirement" with fraudulent registrations - over 200,000 from what I understand - and you have guaranteed VOTE fraud in the making.

IMHO elections should be run as follows:
This is ONE instance where you should use your social security number (no votes for illegals!), and upon entering it as you go in to the polling place, THAT particular SS# is no longer viable for signing in to vote anywhere else. (Our current credit card type database could handle that task easily; obviously if someone frauds and uses your number before you get to vote, it needs investigated, but the earlier user of the number could be tracked down if there were decent sign-in procedures).
Once you sign in, you will vote ON PAPER BALLOTS. You will clearly mark an "X" by your choices. If you are too stupid to figure that out, you would be too stupid to use any of the electronic methods anyway.
Your ballot then gets folded and deposited in a large clear plexiglass container in front of the other voters, where it will sit until the counting. Potentially 400 million people will vote not too long from now, so set it up for 5,000 votes per polling place, and that's 80,000 polling places to deal with, or about 1600 per state on average. It shouldn't take more than 24 hours for a committee of counters (a member from each major party) to count those votes - in front of anyone who cares to watch. Any 'contested' ballots could be separated. By the next day, each district would have their total to the state, and the states totals would yield your answers.
All would be verifiable, all re-countable, and if the number of 'contested' ballots was sufficient to outweigh the totals of clear ones, a re-count would be automatic.
No electronic tomfoolery, no electronic fraud, and noting not clearly visible and verifiable. One person gets to vote one time and one time only. Voting is still by secret ballot.
The only "other" things I'd add are controversial to today's PC public - until we get the FairTax, nobody could vote unless they paid taxes. You COULD vote for more than one candidate for a given office (thus you could vote McCain since he has the best chance of beating Obama, but ALSO vote for Ron Paul or an independent without fearing you're going to thereby elect Obama. On at least some occasions, the third party candidate might garner enough votes from both major parties to win, thus breaking the Demopublican/Republicrat monopoly).
Oh yeah - there'd also be monthly elections, nationwide, to 'test' the system - faster votes - vote for only ONE candidate, nation wide. The one with the most votes gets executed in public the following week. You'd lose only 12 politicians per year (far lower than their natural death rate), but I think it might keep the rest of them more honest...

Well then, if Ohio drops by a small margin, and that puts the socialist in office, then that's enough of an impetus for me. I hope its enough for others.Old Ironsights wrote:No Picture ID required. Free and valid elections are the foundation of any democracy of any kind - the very blood of the democracy.
If this is courrupted then the system is corrupt and therefore invalid.
