Won a Auction Arms Auction this morning on a nice little Marlin 39A Golden Mountie. Have been wanting another one for some time and this one just called out to me. Gave a little more than I wanted, but not as much as I would have given. My oldest is also very excited, as he now gets my 1977 39A. I can't wait to get her here and try it out. I got up in the middle of the night last night to babysit the auction. (It was my first online auction purchase.)
Yep I chased it for a while, layed awake all night and finally got up to babysit the bids. I grew up shooting one just like it, and haven't seen one in the same shape for sale reasonable for a while. Mom and Dad still have the old one I grew up shooting and I still get it out and shoot it from time to time, but I really wanted to have one of my own (had bought one years ago, but it had to go during my divorce from my 1st wife). My oldest wanted my 77 39Agolden, so this means it goes to him, but I still need to get at least 1 more 39A for my youngest boy (12) and my daughter (14) is talking like she may want one too. They are just great guns, and it does show that my kids have good taste.
I do like the Winchester 62, but there is just a special place in my heart for the 39A.
Every 39 I have shot have been very accurate. When I was in HS and right after we used to shoot quarters at 40 yards. 1st one to punch a hole won the pot. Hits didn't count had to punch a complete hole. $1 to $5 bucks a shot. My ole 39 was pretty good back in the day, when we were shooting open sights, won a lot more money than I lost.
Just got it in yesterday, and I am very, very pleased. The wood is basically perfect, and is absolutely beautiful. The pictures didn't do it justice. The metal is very good, and it shoots just like a dream. LIFE IS GOOD!
She looks a little dry and maybe even a tadge dirty. I bet you fix all that pronto, and a little gun oil smeared on her she will shine up sweet!! Congrats.

Yep, she was, but after a little TLC she sure looks good. BTW when I got to my FFL to pick her up he had already started cleaning her up for me. He got all of the rough spots so all I had to do when I got home was put the finishing touches on it. BTW It was the first time I used this guy and he is a great guy. Will definitely use him again.
