Winchester AE aftermarket open sights

Post by jake565 »

I have the Winchester AE with crossbolt safety in 45LC. The receiver has been drilled and tapped (from factory) on the forward reciver ring and at the back of receiver near the breach block. I want to install after market open sights, front and rear (no peep sights). What would you recommend to buy? I like the Williams day glo sights, but, don't know if they will work. Ads say receiver must be drilled and tapped. Thanks for your input.

Welcome to the fire, Jake !

Call the Williams Gun Sight Co, and speak to a techie for confirmation - but FireSight set # 60217 should work just fine:

The only question I would have for the techie would be if your rifle's front sight blade is mounted directly in a barrel dovetail ILO a front sight ramp - Williams may need to supply a different height/base width front sight blade, than the one normally supplied with the sight sets.

My personal preference is the Marbles full buckhorn rear sight. Many here will argue against them but for my eyes they just seem to work for me.

I need a receiver mounted rear sight to increase the sight radius.

Sounds like you could use a Williams WGOS if one is made to fit the rear two holes on your receiver.

I'm a big fan of the XS Sight systems rear peep and front sight set.

Been there , Tried That, Didn't work:
Reason, Barrel was canted to the right, Not enough adjustment on rear peep sight
to target the rifle...I have looked at several Win 45 Colt, The barrel alignment is
TERRIBLE , suggest you check first.

Sight adjusted , still not on Target

This works until I Re-align barrel:
