I had myself a heck of a nice day Gunday, er - Saturday (yesterday), over the course of about three hours, three different gunshops, some fella's house & his bank.
I ended up turning one gun into four.
It actually started out on Friday afternoon, when I put up a custom .22 in a local gunshop for sale on consignment.
Evidently, a shop hanger-on looked my consignment over after I left, because he approached me yesterday noontime, when I stopped by the shop on another matter - and ended up buying my .22 !
I hadda follow him to his home, so he could get his checkbook, then to his bank so he could cash the check - but then I was ready to roll !
I first went to an out-of-the-way shop, bargain hunting - and found a pristine Stevens tenite 22-410 O/U, that was almost a twin to my Savage 24B 22/410, at a very reasonable price.
While I was starting the purchase paperwork for the Stevens (in another part of the shop), I spotted a 99% (used) Browning Auto 22 (Japan) rifle with a 70's-era contoured (small) Bushnell 4x scope in the cantilever mount, fairly cheap, too.
Soooooo, I made a low offer, couched as: "What if I bought both ? Would you take $$ ? ". My offer was accepted. Two down.
Then I went to a tried & true local venue, that's usually a bit on the high end - but where I got a Walther PP for $275 - so ya never know.
Once there, I espied two NAA plain-vanilla mini revolvers - at the same price, about $100 below retail !
So, I asked to look at both, so I could compare them (fit/finish/trigger pull) and decide which to buy.
It was only when I had them in hand, that I realized they were different sizes !
One was a .22LR, while the other was an even smaller .22 Short model !
Needless to say, I got ahold of the store owner, and did the samo: "What if I bought both...........etc" - and he knocked off another $50 from the package deal !
Two more down - for a total of four new-to-me guns for the day.
I'll try to get some pics up next weekend, after I pick them all up ("waiting period" in my state).
Now - I'm broke again !
