OT - Last of the Mohicans

Seeing the long rifles recently posted made me think about "Last of the Mohicans". I've always wondered who made the rifles used by the main characters. Along time ago I tried googling for the information, but never found out. Anyone here know who made them as well as the knives and tomahawks?

I can't recall who made the long rifles, but the knives were by Winkler.

I know this answer, but I sure can't recall it at the moment. I know in "Muzzleloader" magazine, the maker advertises and there have been lots of stories about the rifles of that movie and of "The Patriot". here is a link to their site, perhaps a question there would give an imediate response. I can't help but wonder if this is the same guy who operated "Doc Watson's Long Rifles" in Pigeon Forge, TN back in the early 1980's.

The "Doc Watson Longrifles" had some gorgeous rifles at stiff prices. As much as I wanted one, they prices were beyond my means at the time. But since I remember both the quality and cost nearly 30 years later, you know they were impressive rifles.

I have one of the neck knives used as a prop for that movie. It isn't a real knife at all. It's a leather blade with a wooden handle. The "beadwork" on the front of the pouch looks to be some computer generated paper glued to the front of the pouch. I thought it was kind of cool to own though so I bought it at a rondyvoo.

You might be thinking of Ken Guy aka "Packdog". He builds East TN guns and is pretty famous, as is Ian Pratt. I've talked to both and they seem to be good fellas, but they have a 4 year backlog for building a gun. I am having an East TN rifle built for my middle son by another maker and can't wait to see him shoot it. There is alot of not so famous gun builders that do outstanding work.....a bunch, but you just have to talk and ask around.

After going to the Al Edge flintlock deal in Ruther Glenn in september and heading up to Winchester for the North South thing . There's gonna be a rondyvoo close to Smithfield Virginia for 4 days the end of the month ! I just might have to drive down for the day !

You might be right, it has been over 25 years since I visited the shop, but I'd have sworn that the shop was called "Doc Watson's Longrifles," and was located just across the street from the mill on the street headed back to what is now Dollywood, but was then called Silver Dollar City.
