Not levers, but interesting

Post by jnyork »

Dont know how many veterans are aware of this, but the Flag Code has recently been amended to permit veterans to render the hand salute to the flag, even if not in uniform. Here's the paragraph:

Flag Code:§9. Conduct during hoisting, lowering or passing of flag
During the ceremony of hoisting or lowering the flag or when the flag is passing in a parade or in review, all persons present in uniform should render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute. All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Citizens of other countries present should stand at attention. All such conduct toward the flag in a moving column should be rendered at the moment the flag passes.

A really good law, IMHO.

Remember where Obama keeps his head. He generally would not be able to see the flag passing in front of him. It would have to pass to the rear and then probably at half mast for him to catch a glimpse.

Perfect!

Proper flaq etiquette is a big part of Scouting, which is another reason my son and I are so heavily involved. As Sixgun note, all persons should be taught the proper way to respect the flag of the greatest country that has ever been!!!
