Great day with the lever guns. PHOTOS ADDED!!

My wife and I are fortunate enough to own a few acres of aspen trees in the mountains at the very southern tip of the Wind River range in Wyoming. Went up there today to do a few things to get ready for winter. Fall is definitely here, on the way up we met a group of 8 riders trailing a herd of cattle down to winter range. The aspens all over the mountain on both sides are lit up with brilliant yellows, oranges and flame red, especially beautiful with the sun shining brightly. Saw several wall tents and campers tucked back in the trees, guys getting ready for elk season.
Got our work done and I decided to exercise my little 100 yard metallic silhouette range. Shot 31 x 40 with the Marlin 39a, 32 x 40 with the Marlin 32-20. Not really great, but such a beautiful day I didn't care. While I was shooting, our two little dogs spent their time chasing an imaginary squirrel through the trees and my wife got all her birdhouses down and put away. Another beautiful drive down the mountain, home in time for supper, which is on the stove.
Life is good. :D

My shooting range, hard to get a good photo here, it is buried deep in a thick stand of aspen, 100 meters long, 6 feet wide! :D

Well, no, actually! :shock: :o :D

In truth, I never go to the range to "practice", in my mind I am always shooting a match, and I shoot the full course every time I go out. I know my average and strive to better it. I put the "match pressure'' on myself every round I fire so I am not a stranger to it when I do go shoot a real match. Works for me!! :D

Some days you just have to revel in the wonder of life. Sounds like you had one of those! For most of us on this forum, these sort of days seems to usually involve the outdoors, and often hunting or shooting. Add gardening, good food and drink, and family, and it is hard to complain!

The only thing wrong with the picture painted by "jnyork" was "....... home in time for supper, which is on the stove."

I'd have stayed for an early supper and then driven home.

Great story and description of your day.
