1893 update

Post by bsaride »

Well, this weekend I spent ALOT of time on my 1908 Marlin 1893 takedown, pistolgrip 30-30.
Got to the point of almost getting blisters on the heel of my hand just from scrubbing the bore
(I know what 100 years of lead buildup looks like) with vintage knurled cleaning rod (wore a
leather glove today so I could keep at it).

Just got done scrubbing the crud from the action and forgot that I had a broken firing pin.
All else except for a couple bubba'd screws looked good. I've been working on the bore off
and on for the better part of a year (time permitting).

Good news is that I had ordered a bunch of spare parts from Numrich a year ago and can
replace the firing pin and screws.

Taking this and a 1920 Savage 99 takedown 30-30 to the range next weekend (fingers crossed).
Picking up the Savage on Friday and will mount the vintage Lyman 57 receiver sight on it
(NOT D&T for scope base).

Jonathan, if you read this post, I'm thinking Sunday for the range time as I always have something
come up and want to have both rifles if at all possible. Will send email.
