oldmax,
I have both the Lee Four Die Deluxe .45 Colt set, and the Lee FCD by itself and the numbers you posted do not appear anywhere on them or the paperwork.

The FCD is the smaller of the two, has the carbide ring, and does not have a seating punch inside.

I think the factory crimp will have a 'collet' but I will check mine tonight and see if I can see a number.

I even e-mailed LEE and they didn't have a chart or anything to send me about identifying dies; a bummer, since mine were all in a single box after moving some stuff. Will have to sort them out the hard way.

No collet on the standard pistol FCD. You are confusing it with the rifle type which is not a standard offering for the .45. Lee will make the superior collet type for the .45 Colt if you send them 2 dummy rounds and $29.00. The rifle type is superior in my opinion. 1886.

Thanks guys,

I'm STUPID, I looked down the holes again, with better light and my glasses on..
There is a difference,
The seat dye has the plug, The crimp die is OPEN inside,
They both looked the same when I looked the first time...If I would have
separated the dies it would have been obvious...

GETTING OLD AIN'T EASY,

Man I REALLY feel stupid.....!!!!!!!

Sorry. Right about the rifle vs. handgun & collets.

My FC Lee dies (both types) also have a much narrower knurled band up top than the others.

I just simplify things and keep all my dies and die sets in their boxes, in a standardized order. That way it's easy for my pea sized brain to remember.
