The deviant urges are back...
For some reason I went and got my bolt action sporter (Model 70 in .270 WCF with Burris Sig. 2-8x) out of the safe today. I'm thinking I'm going to hunt with it this year. Hmmmmm...

A fine shooter, Sir..... I have a slick M700, 35 Whelen that might get the nod a few times this year. For sneaking thru the thick stuff, it will be a little 1894 in .44mag.

Yes, there IS just something slick and beautiful about a good bolt action; anyone who has handled a Springfield '03 surely appreciates that. IMHO the "leverguns" still have not reached their best in the pointy-bullet bottleneck rounds; the Savage type guns are nice, the BLR's are, and the "Leverevolution" Marlin things are sort of a sneak-around the issue, but it still seems like if you have a 7mm Rem Mag cartridge in your left hand, the gun in your right hand should be a bolt action, just like if it is a .45-70 it should be a lever action. The others? - breakopens are for strange wildcat or obsolete rounds, and pumps are for .22's (I just said that to rile the T/C and pump rifle fans
).
