I haven't found a list of calibers offered, was the 99 ever available in .303 Brit?
What are options for scoping if not factory drilled and tapped? I saw on Savage99.com an old ad for Stith mounts. I don't suppose they are still around?
Thanks!
If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor.
I don't think they were ever in 303 British. Round is too long. There was a 303 Savage though similar to 30 wcf but used heavier bullet 190 gr if I remember right. Some other that I know of. 30 wcf, 300 sav, 308 win, 250 sav, 358 win, 243 win. Probably others somebody will be along to add to the list.

OK, thanks. I just haven't run across a complete list but it does appear from the rounds I've seen listed on various site that they are all "short action" calibers.

I have a 1920 Sav 99 on the way, not D&T so it will be getting a receiver sight as I don't
think the Stith is a good idea on a TD. Basically if they are D&T then there are a couple
mounts available otherwise what i've seen so far (this will be my first 99) is the Stith
unless you go with an older external adjust scope (I've seen the mounts on auction).

Also chambered for the .25-35, 22 Savage Hi-Power ( 70 gr .228" dia. bullet), and the .284 Winchester. Possibly also the
.32-40, .38-55, and 7mm/08, but I am not positive about these last three...

[am I correct in recalling the .410 was chambered in an extra barrel for rimmed cartridge takedown models?]
Not necessarily. Almost all the combo's I've run across have been .300 Savage/.410.
The M99 Savage .410 auxilliary barrel option was discontinued prior to the introduction (in the 1950's) of the .308-based (.243/.308/.358) cartridge's introduction into the line/model, so it's generally not properly an auxilliary barrel for a rifle in those newer calibers - but could be had for any other older caliber/bore/cartridge in the Savage 99 line, prior to that.
The .410 option is a single-shot, i.e., the shotshells are not supposed to be cycled through the magazine.
If the rifle was ordered from the factory with the aux barrel, it came through "fitted"; but if a M-99 owner wanted to add a .410 barrel aftermarket, they were supposed to send the gun back in to be "fitted".
The .410 barrels could be had in 22" or 24" lengths @ $7.00 (1939).
