I've got a box of lead 125 grain RNFP's from Roger Better Bullets (King Of Prussia, Pa), that I'd like to shoot targets with using my 1894 Marlin. I just can't seem to find any data for lead bullets of that weight. I have Bullseye, Red Dot, AA#2, 231, Unique, Blue Dot, 2400, AA#7. I don't believe that any of the other slower powders I have (ie., 296, AA#9, etc.) would be suitable.
These are plain base, hard-cast bullets, and while I wouldn't mind some zip I also don't want to lead the barrel.
Thanks.

The reason you can't find load data for that combo is because those bullets are designed for the 9mm and 38 Super. If you really want to shoot them our of your 1894, I would load them in 38 Spl cases and try about 3 gr. of Clays or AA#2. I'd bet that they are too small diameter to perform well/not lead in your application.

My target loads in my 1894 consist of 125gr cast bullets sized .358 , 6.2gr of Unique, and CCI small pistol primers, in WW brass. That load is good for 1.5" groups at 100 all day long. I dont have a crony so cant help you with velocity figures.

Check the Alliant site, reference the cowboy load section. Many very good listing for 125 gr's.
We have found American Select Powder to be the best for the lighter bullets, 125-140 gr's.
My accuracy load for my Marlin 94CB was, .357 cases, WWSP primers, Laser-cast 140 gr. RNFP sized to .358", 3.5 gr's of American Select. Same load with 125's, not as good accuracy. My Son now has the piece, he shoots the 125's under 3.2gr's of AS with 38 cases.

I've knocked off a bunch of woodchucks with a 125 gr. LSWC and 5.8 grns. of Bullseye. Shot well through the blackhawk and 1894c I had at the time.
