Going Hunting - Photos added, not dial up friendly
Will be heading out this afternoon for 10 days of tent camping and muzzleloader hunting for Mule deer here in Nevada.
I'll take a few picture for you all, whether I get a buck or not.
You guy's on the gulf coast, keep your powder dry, my prayers are with you.

Re: Going Hunting
Well I had a great trip, but I sure had my fill of bad luck
The buddy I was hunting with had an emergency at his work and had to return after only 1.5 days of hunting, so I was solo the rest of the trip, I guess I had better luck than my buddy though.
Hunting alone is about like sitting around a campfire by yourself, if you know what I mean.
I passed on a forked horn on the second day, which I should know better not to do, since I am a meat hunter first, but I got greedy and wanted something bigger.
I did a bit of still-hunting around a few water holes and game trails but had no luck. Trail hunting from a Dodge Cummins Ram does not work well, the dear could hear me a mile away, I tried to shut it down and out flank them on foot, but for some reason the deer were very spooked this year.
I'll never hunt alone again, it was just a bad idea to stick out the hunt, if something bad happened, at least nothing happened, but just the thought of breaking down, getting stuck or injured haunted my thoughts. A team of two people can effectively hunt the area I was in but solo, I was just hoping for a little luck that never came.
Temps were in the 80's and had a full moon; ground was dry and only had a bit of rain on the last day.
Had a great time camping and exploring the country and sure appreciate the well wishes from you all.
Here are a few pictures that I promised

Cool, looks like fun country

Neat pictures! I LIKE that bumper on the Dodge. I am a firm believer of heavy duty things that might have to go "bump". I bet that baby weighs about 300 lbs. Custom or aftermarket?
I know what you mean by hunting by yourself. I have been camping and hunting by myself in Pa. since my Dad passed on. I think I'm going to give it up. After about 3 days, I'm ready to go home.
Thanks for the pics!

Love the photos, and love the Ely area. We go over there once in a while metal detecting and arrowhead huntin'. Great place and home of the Nevada Northern railroad, a real historical gem.

Nice pics! Makes one want to head out there.
Re: Going Hunting - Photos added, not dial up friendly
Thanks guys, the pictures just don’t give the area its justice.
Sixgun, your right about hunting alone, 3 days would be more than enough!
The bumper was made by Reunel http://www.reunel.com/ Great people to deal with and one stout bumper, I'll get a rear bumper from them as soon as someone rear ends me. The front bumper was paid for by a lady that ran a red light
Cheaper than all the factory parts at the body shop.
Mike D. I know a great area for arrowheads, pretty close to Ash Springs/ Alamo area. I like metal detecting also, next time your heading up their give me a yell.

Scott -
Sorry to hear that it was somewhat of a bust, though with the beauty of the area you were in, it looked pretty good to me! Glad you made it back in one piece!

Well, too bad about your buddy having to leave early and I know what you mean about going solo - is a lonley go of it. And as you say, a lot of things can happen - like maybe getting bit by a rattler.... glad you came out OK and thanks for the great pics!
