Levergunning is only Dead if Obama J Biden wins...
It's only "mostly dead" if McCurian wins, though Miracle Max may have provided a good Miracle Pill in Sara Palin.
We'll have to see if the combo is worth a Mutton, Lettuce & Tomato sandwich...
Talking about Politics in an Election Season IS talking about Leverguns.

Good point since the right own and use is central.
I gave my brother a gun but it seems he must apply for the right to have it from the People's Repubic of NJ. Could take months he said.

If you're referring to the old site - it's been dead since the beginning of the year, orphaned by the host at that time. That's why Paco moved to this server and the new software, we aren't "trouble free" here, but at least we've been able to get some technical help when needed. Leverguns.com and levergunscommunity.com remain healthy and viable sites. It's the sixgunner.com site and related software that bit the dust due to neglect.

Re: So LeverGuns is dead then?
I don't think the forum is dead at all. I believe that this time of year folks are busy outside and just don't check in as much as they do in cold weather when everyones inside fighting cabin fever. I been reading through some of the old posts lately (theres 160 some odd pages here
) and there are a lot of interesting threads I had either forgotten or missed the first time around and I've almost kicked some back into the daylight but I don't want to aggravate folks by bringing old topics back up.
Lotsa' good stuff here here about Lever guns, six guns, leather, hunting, hats, boots etc. pretty much all the things that make life enjoyable.

Well, the forum I posted in is the one I'm referring to, I am only aware of "levergunscommunity.com" anymore.
Once you get down past the 'stickies' and the 'one sticky' there are three that have been posted to in September (or at least that was how it was when I started this thread). Now it's possible there might have been a thousand Sept posts in one or more of those three threads, but they weren't topics I cared about so I didn't look.
And this was not a political thread, though I guess it will inevitably become one since that's the only thing anybody thinks about these days. Ironic, since the arguments are rearranging deckchairs on the head of a pin anyway, since the 'one issue' voters and 'lesser evil' voters have guaranteed our choices will be worse than this one in the future.
oh heck might as well get my licks in. Sarah gave me a reason to vote.

Re: So LeverGuns is dead then?
Gosh, I guess we should resurrect the old debate again!
Maybe we can make the debate about OT posts a "sticky" so there is an ongoing and perpetual debate on OT posts and whether or not they contribute to, or detract from, the discussion.
Then we can make a separate one on what if the ONLY posts allowed are strictly about leverguns, whether there will be 'enough' posts for a viable forum.
With these two threads going, we'll always have PLENTY of posts!
[/sarcasm]
Seriously, lots of folks are busy this time of year getting in the garden, filling the woodshed, patching fences, or just plain WORKING
- and some lucky enough to be busy getting ready for a hunting season
. The rest of us who post are likely a bit in a knot about the upcoming election, and so much of our posting is "OT" - unless you consider electing a president who WILL BAN GUNS (that would include leverguns, FYI) might actually be ON topic, considering that it might severely affect our hobby.
Our electorate is so stupid and shallow-thinking and spoon-fed by the media, that we will likely see a president Obama and VP Biden less than 60 days from now. All I hear is how Palin isn't "experienced" enough to be VICE president, from people who are planning to vote for Obama for PRESIDENT! They don't see the illogic and irrationality of their thought process; but he's "black" and he's "cute" and he's "got alot of good ideas." What a resume!
(Last I heard, Marxism and Socialism really weren't "good ideas" and they have fallen by the wayside after causing much poverty and death and oppression, but to many people under the age of 30, the 20th Century may as well be the age of the Roman Empire, and they see these ideas as "change" - yeah, right. Change.)

Well, you're welcome to your opinion. Their kind of like noses - everyone's got one. If you think the place is dead then your definition of 'alive' and mine are very different. You have to go back to page seven to find August dated posts.
As has been mentioned before. You can gripe or you can "correct" the situation by posting on topic. Of course, griping seems to be as on topic as it gets around here at times.
Dead? Not hardly. We don't have access to the old logs, but I suspect our traffic is higher this year than it was last year at this time. Not exactly a "dead" site at all. Here's the stats.

6070 unique visitors - even taking into consideration the number of ISP's that recycle IP addresses - that's a LOT of folks - far more lurkers than active participants...

Re: So LeverGuns is dead then?
I certainly wouldn't call it dead. Hail, I manage to lurk about a few times a day, and once in a while offer something of a constructive nature. That is debatable, though.

It's not opinion, it's the list of threads in the "General Discussion" list, and it shows the last post in the right-hand column, is where I was getting my information from.AmBraCol wrote:You have to go back to page seven to find August dated posts.
...
It's not a complaint about politics, the screen was showing three threads that had a last post in this month.
Of course, it's Bush's fault.

Well I sure don't see what you're seeing. There's six and a half pages of posts with a September date in the right hand column - and most of the first page is today's date for last post. And as mentioned - with over a million hits SO FAR this month - it's hardly "dead"
Yeah, Bush is responsible for all our ills - he should have let Gore win so we could keep on dissing the democrats...

I use the "View active topics" button rather than the "General Discussion" one - maybe that makes a difference? There really are lots of posts daily, so there must be something cutting them out of what you're seeing.Idahoser wrote: It's not opinion, it's the list of threads in the "General Discussion" list, and it shows the last post in the right-hand column, is where I was getting my information from.

I don't know about all the post counts here, I don't even look at them. However I personally have posted more than three "ON Topic" posts this month alone. I'm here quite a lot, too much really, I need to get a life.Idahoser wrote:I see THREE topics that have been posted to in the month of September.
This forum is far from dead. We're just concerned about what's gonna happen this November 11th, and afterwords.

No, but I think I just learned something else.Old Savage wrote:Idahoser - are you just looking in the sticky section?
I don't know what all software different people might be using, so what I'm talking about is if you type "levergunscommunity.com" into the address bar in Internet Explorer (7, in my case) and choose "General Discussion" from the list of two choices (classifieds is the other choice).
But I did just now look down past the three Sept, then one Aug and three July entries... and then there are more September ones.
SO they're not in chrono order as I was expecting.
Sue me. Sorry for the trouble.

The Dems are offering up a Senator with a radical Leftist past...
and
The Repubs are offering up a Senator with a voting record nearly as bad.
Thus, either way it goes we get a "soviet-style Senator"... untill the Old One croaks anyway.
Then we get Lady Thatcher MKII.

And I see there are something like stickies at the top of the topics section too. I never use the General or start at the top of the topics I just go to view active topics or view your posts. That is where you want to be. Easy to see how you did what you did.
