More Win94 45 colt

Post by oldmax »

More in the saga of the win94 with the twisted barrel, It's going hunting 'as is '
reloads 240 GR Hornady XTP/JHP & Lil gun Fed Mag primers...
Lil Gun start at 25.0 grains to 27.8 grains" Max" load, Plus 3 @ 28.0 grains as test.
No pressure signs for any loads .

Accuracy fairly good, @25 Yds, some 3 shot, 1 1/2 inch groups, and some flyers ( Operater error )
The more I squint, the worse I get. I noticed that if I consentrate on the sight ( right eye )and than blink the left The point of aim moves. I seem to do better just shooting;
Anyway, I have ammo sighted in for 100 yards. As best I can do.
Pic below:
100 Yards: 8 shots from a sand bag. Rapid fire ( for me ) about 3 seconds between shots
2 flyers out of 8: (1) 3 inch high and left, 1 Low, edge of target....
( the 2 taped , plus a flyer high of the target was with 28.0 Grains Lil Gun )

I think we've talked this over once or twice here; if you can keep your hits on an 8" paper plate at your hunting ranges from actual field positions your good to go. As it is I see nothing about your load or accuracy to worry about.

Still, as soon as the hunting trip is over I'd get that barrel reindexed. Just cos I hate tilted sights.

Have good hunt and don't forget the pics.
