.22 Levergun Sight Experiment UPDATE

Post by Pete44ru »

A lightweight, VERY inexpensive (under $10), electronic point sight (red dot) on my Henry H001:

I'll let you know if it shoots as good/better as/than the peep after my next range visit.

YMMV, but this particular red dot didn't work for me, on this Henry .22 - because it has a line-of-sight so high that I had to raise my head/cheek entirely off the buttstock to view the dot.
Not exactly conducive to either accuracy or speed.

The sight body is at about the height of a normal .22 riflescope, with the red dot lens above that.

The sight would work, however, on a rifle with either a higher/straighter comb on the stock, or one with a monte carlo comb - like the Henry .17cal levergun.

Oh, well - at least it was an inexpensive lesson, unlike most of my past lessons. ;)

Thank you, Ben - I zeroed the Williams peep last month, when I mounted it.

It sighted-in perfectly, using the issue front sight - to which I added a daub of BRIGHT SIGHTS orange paint.

The peeps are "on sale" for $19.99 at www.cheaperthandirt.com
this month, according to a flyer I just got.
They're usually about $26.
