Pistol Grip Win 92
Is there a Model 92 clone with a pistol grip ? I sure would like a 92 (357 or 44 cal) but have never liked a straight grip on any rifle. And yes I do have a win 94 but it just doesn't "feel" right. I would like to get a 92 clone but am holding out for a pistol grip. I know Winchester made some models of the "94" in 30-30 (Model 53 ??) but I have not found one I could afford. A pistol grip 92 carbine in 44 calibure would be perfect and a pistol grip 94 carbine in 30-30 would work as well. Nervana would be a pistol grip Win 94 carbine in 38-55 . I know it sounds like I'm talking about two different rifles here (92/94) but the truth is either -or both- would make me happy.
I also know anything can be had for enough money but I'm talking reasonable price here.

And as far as the 1894-type action is concerned, I believe the Model 64 has the pistol-grip. I didn't use to like pistol grips on levers but once I got my hot little hands on my Uberti 1873 Sporting Rifle, I changed my mind REAL quick. Now I've got a Marlin 336RC in .35 Remington as well. VERY comfortable! IF you can find a Browning 65, you'd be in business a lot quicker than with an original Winchester, I'd think, because of the price difference. jd45

Re: Pistol Grip Win 92
War story time. We had another almost as nice as the one I posted, in the family years ago. My dad and I were hunting deer in wisconsin in about 1958 when I was 17 years old. We came across a local farmer in the woods that had just missed a nice buck. Of course he blamed the rifle, a model 64 in 32 special. It had a redfield peep and I belive, a sling. It didnt have checkering. Dad gave him $50 for it on the spot! We also threw a ride in about 3 miles away so the guy could get a shotgun and continue hunting. I left home and couldnt keep tabs on dad. Dad was in his early 80s when I went home for a visit, and I found he had traded it off WITH boot, for a new remington pump 30/06!
I guess dad was old and not on top of prices. Dad did shoot his last good buck at about 86 years old. He lived till right at 90 in 2003. For whatever reason, here is a very old picture of my dad when I was a kid. By the way, I remember giveing $200 for my 64 in 1975. I probley have only 2 boxs through it, trying to keep it in good shape. Dont worry, I have and shoot others, one being a model 94 I bought new in about 1956.
