Well, I hate to throw cold water on this but the idiots in charge in the UK know that gun control doesn't work. Just as the idiots in charge here know that it doesn't work. Think about Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed...

The sad fact is... they don't care. They want control over the citizenry. And as far as they are concerned, the high crime rate is worth the end result. They figure that in time, they will gain enough control to stop the black market trade. Basically, when they establish the police state.

The only peaceful way to stop them is to get pro-gun people elected and keep them elected for a long time.

If that doesn't work then the only solution is revolution.

Just look at the history of the former Soviet Union if you want proof.

The state made ordinary materials and foodstuffs so difficult to get that a black market underground economy developed, and the Russian mafia was born.

Maybe I am paranoid but no way will I add my name and address to a petition run from a goverment web site. Guess I will carry on with my own self defence measures as usual.

I too was dubious of adding my name and address to this petition as I'm sure some little government nerd will add my details to a list of subversives. It will be interesting to see if my legal ownership of firearms is infringed any more in the future.

Wether you use a gov web site or just post on the internet, they will know. So paranoia or not, I have signed. But then again, I am leaving to live in the Philippines.

I have put links on the IPSC site, maybe we will get support from the 74 countries in IPSC. I signed other countries petitions, we need to stick together.

Nath, I have held firearm certificates for 45 years and have never been refused any type, calibre or number of guns that I requested. When I came home from the USA I got my certificates back in record time, no hassles. Why? because I know exactly what my rights are and I insist on getting them, whatever the cost or inconvenience.
At the time of the semi auto and handgun bans I signed all the petitions, went on all the marches, wrote personal letters to all 620 MP's and saw my own MP no less than 8 times. I also have a letter from the Duke of Edinburgh thanking me for supporting him when the press vilified him for standing up for shooters. I went on the foxhunting marches, not because I have any interest in hunting but because I support the right of people to do so if they wish.
I really don't give a rat's a%s what you think about me but please don't question my willingness to stand up to big bro unless you have some facts to support your premise.

I truely fear the possibility of obamination getting into the white house. If he does and does what I know he will do, then we will only have a short period to get organized and act. I do know that the future of my children's freedom is more important than my own safety.

I am most saddened by the sorry state of affairs in the UK. My maternal ancestors came to America in the 1600's from Britain. My paternal side is German. I guess that makes me a typical American mutt.

The fact that so many other Eruopean countries have strict gun control in place makes the likelihood that the socialist idiots here will try and instill similar measures increase.

And its the same everywhere else too - Australia for example could easily lose more rights.

This is truely the fight of the century. Self determination/responsibility and individual rights vs tyranny.

Actually here in the upside down country where I live in the state of New South Wales they have just relaxed some of the gun laws, also I know of guys with 50 or more guns so I don't think things are as bad here as some people like to make out.

Winchester1886 we dont make it out to look bad, it is bad. Move to W.A and see how easy you find getting 50 guns licenced, or 5 guns for that matter. In a country where historically everyone had the right to own firearms to keep the family fed, and safe, we are now desperately battling to hold on to those rights.

If you dont believe me have a look at the laws that govern us.
We have the right to defend ourself and our loved ones,
We have the right to feed ourselves and our loved ones,
The means to do both these things are not a right but a privilege and our elected rulers have the right to remove that privilege any time they like (REF. little johnnys semi-auto ban, and the current battle for northern station owners sidearm rights).
