Does anyone know what the original load out was for these? I know semi-autos can be picky outside of their designed bullet weight and/or velocity parameters.
Even better, anyone know what Frank Hamer's load was when he threw that little surprise party for Bonnie and Clyde?
Thanks!
If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor.
I believe Frank Hamer used Remington factory loads with the 200 gr. bullets. Don't know where I read that. My dad said that he'd only ever seen the Winchester Silvertips prior to getting possession of the gun in 1975. He wasn't from Texas though! IME the 150s don't feed well in many/most M8s. 38 gr. IMR or H 4895 under the 200 gr. RN (any cup-n-core like Hornady, Remington or Winchester) works just fine. The Federal load is the most "vigorous" factory load, the Winchester just barely gets the case out of my gun. Sometimes it gets just high enough to roll onto my hat brim.

Hobie
