glare & colors on the monitor

Post by Griff »

Is there a way to increase the contrast in how the forum is dispklayed? The two shades of blue mine is currently showing for "read" & "unread" posts are VERY hard to read during the day. At nite w/no glare off the windshield, it's no problem.

I don't know. I think the other format was better but the forum voted for this one. Let me see if I can change it for you. We can always change it back.

Re: glare & colors on the monitor HOW TO CHANGE YOUR PROFILE

Post by Hobie »

Griff,

Go to User Control Panel (your profile) and select Board Preferences, then My board appearance (IIRC) and choose prosilver. See how that looks to you. For those who may inadvertently have prosilver you can do likewise to change to subsilver (the default format). I've reset the board, at least for the moment, so that it doesn't mandate the board appearance.

PS I noticed that changing browsers (now on Safari) changed the contrast/appearance in my monitor...
Sincerely,

Hobie

Once I get in a topic it's fine, it's just the Board Index that seems to lack conrast. 2 fairly light shades of blue. Probably my issue only; no need to change the whole thing, it only happens when sun is in front of me. I think I was one of those that voted for the subsilver at the time! :o

It figures that you voted for that which causes your problem. The prosilver has darker bands than the other. I find it easier to read and am using it right now. I can force everyone to use subsilver but I see no reason why I need to do that unless Paul knows something I don't. I did make subsilver the default though so folks should need to change to prosilver to see it.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Personally I see nothing about this format thats an improvement !

Matter of fact in a word (to me at least) it "sucks" .

You can follow the instructions to go back to subsilver.
Go to "User Control Panel" (your profile) and select "Board Preferences" tab, then "My board Style" and choose prosilver. See how that looks to you. For those who may inadvertently have prosilver you can do likewise to change to subsilver (the default format). I've reset the board, at least for the moment, so that it doesn't mandate the board appearance.

Being color blind (or rather having color "deficient" sight) I fully understand that some will see one format or the other better. I prefer the Prosilver, but not all do.

I run Macintosh OS 9.2.2 and Mozilla (gecko) 1.3.1. Two days ago my login screen became a large blank blue screen with login fields at the bottom. Logging in reverts me to the leverguns.com INDEX page I'm accustomed to. When I want to reply to a thread, the forum asks me to login again, and each time I want to reply.

Mine says subsilver2 which I prefer but I can see that others might like the other. I recall there was a post about which way Griff was shooting on his avatar but it was clear from his reply the the avatar was on the other side of the page for him.

I like this fine. Only thing is that if I start a topic and include pics I have to post with one then go back and forth and add others or it will just erase my post.

The thing I noticed is: I don't have to click through three pages to log into the forum. I just log in at the index page. That was the way it was originally then it was changed, now it's changed back. I like this way. I would like you set the cookie level back to "indefinite" like the old forum. This 1 hour to expire is annoying.
