OT - Thank You C. Cash!

Post by Ysabel Kid »

Due to C. Cash's great memory, and kindness in letting me know, I have added another firearm to my collection that I have always wanted. It is not a levergun (thus the "OT"), but I still think it is mighty cool! 8)

Here's my new addition:

Image

Yes, a functioning blunderbuss! I have always wanted one of these. Just something about the flared muzzle that always struck a cord with me (long before the "Pirates" movies! ).

Image

I'm looking forward to giving this one a whirl. As you can tell below, it has not been fired yet.

Image

And here is one for scale. Don't mind the old guy!

I have to admit, that looks like a gun I would probably end up not shooting. It looks too purdy. I hope you give a report on what kind of pattern you get from the monster. 8)

You are most welcome Ysabel! Most things I forget right away...but guns, well, always seem to remember those. That is supercool and nice wood on there to boot. Now, you'll have to find a way to mount a Surefire to it for those nasty little bumps in the night   Congrats amigo.

That is one nice, beautiful long gun. I look forward to the first "range report!"

Well, don't keep it a secret. Can you tell us where you got it? Thanks in advance for any info. I might not mind having one of those myself. What a cool plaything!

Even as a single shot, loaded with grape and shot, it should be great!

Congratulations Jay.
I had a go with one like that at a Country Fair, sort of slow motion skeet, a balloon released from a basket! What a blast! :D :D :D

Nice gun. Looks like it would sling grapeshot well. But where is the obligatory picture of your feet?

Great gun and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun shooting it --

BUT, inquiring minds want to know -- What else do you take pictures of yourself doing in that mirror??????

Accessories might be kind of pricey. You'll have to get a 18th century English stage coach and ride around your neighboorhood glaring at people. Oh and cleaning up the horse poop:shock: It won't be an easy road from here on out......

This is embarassing, but I can't find my original note on who made the gun - or the kit. DCM maybe. C. Cash - I remember you commented on this - do you recall?

Thanks!!!

Here is what the seller on "FrontierFolk.com" said:

"I got it new, un-fired from a dealer who sells these for the importer as part of a trade about 2 years ago. I never liked the original stain/finish. It looked too "plastic". So, I stripped it all off, put on 3 coats of wood stain and a clear, waterproofing/sealer and you see the finished gun, Much more "realistic" if I can boast a bit. I had Lloyd Moler, a Professional gun builder very well known in muzzleloader circles, fabricate and install the sling swivels about a year ago. I had another good machinest friend build the ramrod as the original was stuff. I made the sling. I wish I could tell you about a good load, but since I have not fired it I don;t know. I would use a FF blackpowder tho, starting I think with about 25 grains and work up from there."
