Animation, just in case you don't know!!!!!

Post by gamekeeper »

I don't know if any of you guys have seen this, it seems to be aimed at complete beginners!
But I thought the Animation on how a lever action worked was neat!

It's nice to learn that somehow most of us overcome the dificultys of operating a lever gun. It was really tough, but we did it.

It takes someone from England to show me what's in my own backyard. I need to get out more. Thanks, Gamekeeper.

I must admit, that I didn't know that little notch on the lever finger was to catch the cartridge from the mag and hold it in preparation for loading when the lever is cycled.

Interesting how they used the Marlin action - much simpler design than the Winny.

Is neat... but this just royally torques me:
Once a lever-action gun is cocked, the only way to uncock it is to hold the hammer and squeeze the trigger. This is very difficult for beginning shooters to do! Uncocking lever-action guns requires skill, strength, and practice! Not all shooters can handle this firearm safely.
ooohhh kaaaayy... time to go back in your nice safe rubber room.

I love the animation, but the text with it is full of bull scat. The lever action is one of the simplest actions to learn. I've taught my 10 and 14 yo step sons and my wife and mother how to use them. It took all of 5 minutes for them to learn how.

Nonsense like this has to be written by some simpering socker mom or her henpecked milquetoast husband. It sure as heck wasn't written by anyone who has experience with lever action rifles.

Either that or it was written by someone who does not want folks to try 'em, he wants to keep Leverguns all to him self!

If you read all of the "articles" under "Rifles" Leverguns get treated harsher than Semi-Autos - yet Pumps (mostly hammerless) and Break actions (same hammer "issues" as a Lever" almost get a pass.

Naah... I don't think the author had an agenda against them evil "cowboy guns"...
